John Frusciante's new Billboard interview "He's done with rock band"

You can read the full interview in http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5657748/john-frusciante-qa-on-his-electronic-evolution-and-why-hes-done-with-rock

About his long solos:
Especially in the case of this one, it reflects the music, you know? I mean, any guitar solo should reflect the music that it’s soloing over and not just be existing in its own sort of little world. But that’s what a lot of people who in the Seventies played extended solos, they would just kind of get lost in their own world, and so they became what I would consider to be a kind of a lazy area for guitar players.

About his leaving from Red Hot:
"it didn’t really occur to me to quit until Flea came to me at one point and said, “I want to take a two-year break after this tour.” And he said that to me about halfway through the [2007 “Stadium Arcadium”] tour, and when he said it I was kind of shocked, 'cause I thought we were on a roll, let’s just keep moving with this, you know? But once he said it to me, my mind started thinking, "What would I do with that two years if I had two years to just do whatever I wanted?"

About a possible live presentation:
No, I have no interest in playing live. I really don’t think of myself as a performer anymore. It was never something that came naturally to me. It was something that I adapted to, but it was never really an expression of who I was."

Lou Reed in a secret project with John Frusciante?

Lou Reed have posted on his twitter a mysterious message: "Codename: Frusciante" with a picture showing John with his face on the front.

It can be a "s3cret" project or it might be just a message of admiration, anyway I hope to see any news from Frusciante.

John Frusciante might play on Coachella 2013

Before Saturday's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performances, audience members gave some thoughts on who they wanted to see and musician rumors they heard about performing including electronic music's Daft Punk, hip-hop's Kanye West and rock guitarist John Frusciante.
Ian Deborja, 24, of San Francisco said he had heard with "80 percent" certainty that Daft Punk would perform with Phoenix during its set tonight on the main Coachella Stage, especially after a commercial was shown at the festival last night with Daft Punk.Deborja added he had "heard" Frusciante, the Red Hot Chili Peppers previous guitarist, would perform with the band on Sunday but he did not know if it would be for a song or a full set.

John Frusciante on sexual castle demo, “FLIP THE SCRIP”

After having joined their forces in newly reformed WEAVE!, the band that once opened for rising stars WarPaint and the killer combo of John, Josh Klinghoffer, Flea and Stella Mozgawa at the Troubadour in 2008; Nicole Turley and Ivory Lee Carlson have formed another band - Sexual Castle.
John can be found playing guitar on one of the three demos the band posted so far, the song titled Flip The Scrip.
The music could be classified as synth pop/new wave revival, similar to what some of the more mainstream artists were doing in the '80s and around mid-90s; but that is, as usual, not all that there is to it; so you are more than encouraged have to check it out yourself. The girls themselves claim that they make music for strawberry lovers. While all of this may sound merely passé for us people who won't get what appears to be their inside jokes (including us here), music is music and this is good for chilling out.

Frusciante is just a well-rounded musical genius

In a recent interview Chad Smith just tells his thoughts about John Frusciante

Smith said of Frusciante, a man he considers the most talented musician with whom he’s ever played.

“We all bring important elements to the group. But in the songwriting department, John Frusciante was very important, and he’s just an encyclopedia of music, not to say that he’s not as well an incredible musician, guitar player, singer, everything. He’s just a well-rounded musical genius."

Chili Peppers quote John Frusciante in Rock and Roll of Fame

During the Rock and Roll of Fame 2012 both Flea and Anthony Kieds quoted John Frusciante during his speeches.

Flea : I want to take a minute to honor an important musician, John Frusciante. He was a big part of our band, he wrote so many good Sh!@#$%^&* for us and left us with so many amazing gifts, and the connection and depth of our musical relationship, changed my life forever.

Anthony Kiedis: He was a young man of mind, much more a student of the school of Hillel Slovak and many forms of art and other musicians, and his creative spirit led us to new heights. He was on fire, and he is just one of the most amazing artists in the world and we were lucky to have him in this band twice and write music with him. We are very grateful to you, John Frusciante.

John Frusciante Won't Attend Rock Hall Induction of Chili Peppers

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will attendee on rock and roll of fame and they've included, past drummers Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez but guitarist John Frusciante, however, will not be there.

"He didn't feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect," Smith says. "We asked him... He said, 'I'm just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.' It was all good. He's the kind of guy, I think, that once he's finished with something he's just on to the next phase of his life. The Chili Peppers are not really on his radar right now."

New Interview: Red Hot Information

In the newest Interview Anthony Kiedis and Flea talk to David Fricke:

'I was afraid," Flea, the bass guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, confesses over the roar of a tour-bus engine. "I couldn't imagine going out with someone else. It seemed done."

Flea explains the way he and Frusciante wrote songs: "John would come in with an idea, bam, and I'd pick it up. Or I'd have an idea and, boom, he'd play the right thing. Done." Flea also describes their friendship variously as "pleasant", "tense", "brotherly" and "combative."
It's like his band is "missing a family member", he says.

The drummer admits he hoped Frusciante would change his mind, "which he's done before. OK, he's doing other things, but one day, I'm gonna get that call: 'Hey, it's John, you wanna jam?'" Smith does an affectionate impression of Frusciante's choppy, whispering voice. "Never happened."

Klinghoffer says excitedly. "Flea and John had a special relationship -- I saw it for years. That Flea and Chad and Anthony could open up and let someone else in, someone new, is amazing to me."
Over a steak dinner and a glass of wine at a hotel in Big Sur, Klinghoffer -- an amiable, soft-spoken guy in a tall, wiry frame -- recalls a recent phone conversation with Frusciante. The two met when Klinghoffer was in his teens, playing with their own fraternal intensity on Frusciante's solo records and other projects. "I was talking to him about playing with these guys," Klinghoffer says. "He said, 'There's something amazing about getting up in the morning and playing something amazing with your friends.'
Frusciante could not be reached for comment. "I think he just wants to be free to do what he wants," Flea suggests, "without the commerce involved with being in a big band."

Bob Forrest points out a significant difference between the two guitarists: "John exploded to power and money so quickly" when he joined the Chili Peppers. "He never had Josh's experience of playing with other musicians."
